Legis360 is inviting civil society organisations across Nigeria to apply for a free, hands-on training on AI and Digital Safety & Security, taking place in Abuja.

AI has moved into the daily work of civil society faster than most organisations have had time to think about it. Drafting reports, managing beneficiary data, communicating with donors, much of this now runs through AI tools. That convenience comes with a question most organisations haven't answered yet: how do we use these tools without putting our organisation, or the people we serve, at risk?

This training exists to answer that question.

Who it's for

The training is built for non-technical teams: programme staff, communications teams, legal and compliance officers, executive directors, and anyone who uses or oversees digital tools and AI platforms within their organisation. No technical background is required.

What it covers

The training is structured around Legis360's 4 Circles of AI and Digital Safety framework, four practical layers that build on each other.

  • Individual security: How a single staff member's careless prompt, weak password, or unsafe click can compromise an entire organisation, and the behavioural changes that prevent it.
  • Internal governance: The growing problem of Shadow AI, where staff use personal AI accounts for sensitive organisational work with no oversight or policy in place, and how to build safe internal workflows instead.
  • External data management: Six secure prompting rules every organisation should adopt before entering any data into an AI system, plus how to assess the risk of a new vendor or tool before adopting it.
  • External threats: How to defend against AI-generated phishing, deepfake impersonation of leaders, automated social engineering, and disinformation campaigns increasingly aimed at NGOs and civil society actors.

Participants will also be introduced to free, accessible tools for secure communication, data anonymisation, vendor assessment, and responsible AI integration, all requiring no budget and no technical expertise to start using.

What your organisation walks away with

This is a workshop, not a lecture: live exercises, group discussions, real case studies, and a practical action planning session. Every organisation leaves with a 30-day action plan template they can put to work immediately, along with the tools to protect beneficiary data, strengthen internal AI governance, train staff on responsible use, assess vendors, and respond effectively when incidents occur.

In a landscape where AI-related incidents are no longer rare but daily, for organisations just like yours, this training isn't optional. It's essential.
