Role Summary

Legis360 is seeking a legal consultant to lead the development of a legislative literacy guide on civic space restrictions in Nigeria. The consultant will conduct legal research, translate key civic-space laws into plain-language guidance, and support the delivery of legal literacy sessions at three zonal know-your-rights workshops.

Expected Qualifications and Experience 

• The successful consultant should possess:
• A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in legal research, human rights, constitutional law, civil society law, digital rights, or related areas.
• A bachelor's degree in Law (LL.B.), preferably with a relevant postgraduate qualification in Law, Human Rights, Public Policy, international law, or a related field. 
• Professional qualification and eligibility to practice law in Nigeria is strongly preferred. 
• Demonstrated knowledge of the Nigerian legal and regulatory framework governing civil society organizations and civic freedoms.
• Demonstrable expertise in one or more of the following areas: freedom of expression; freedom of association and assembly; human rights law; constitutional law; digital rights/cyber law; CSO regulatory frameworks; or legislative and policy analysis.
• Demonstrated experience conducting legal research and producing high-quality legal, policy, or advocacy publications.
• Experience translating complex legal issues into accessible materials for nonlegal audiences.
